Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele explains that the docket was assigned to the Political Task Team for further investigation, with the suspects facing charges of murder and attempted murder. “After an intensive investigation, the team managed to arrest Peter Mazibuko and Philani Thwala in 2019. They are out on R5000 bail. The case against them was remanded to 12 November 2021.”
However, it would appear Phakamani Hadebe is now nowhere to be found. For this reason, the colonel stresses, “The detective team is appealing to the members of the community to assist in locating Phakamani Hadebe. His warrant of arrest was issued by the court and a reward of up to R20 000 has been offered to anyone who may have information that will lead to his successful arrest.”
Anyone with information that can assist the police in their investigation is requested to contact the investigating officer Captain Khumalo on 082 696 6561 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
