
Confined to our homes during the nationwide lockdown, scores of families and businesses have lost their source of income.
As the dire financial implications affect numerous households and businesses, non-profit organisations are facing overwhelming obstacles.
With the five-week lockdown coming into effect as of March 27, the Newcastle SPCA is looking at the community for assistance.
“At the start of the lockdown, people rallied together to ensure the animals have enough food. However, the SPCA still has its overheads to pay,” says Heather Gero of Newcastle SPCA.
These financial overheads include paying water, electricity and veterinary bills.
“We are still operating every day during the lockdown. People are still surrendering pets and animals still need medical assistance.”
Unable to generate a source of income during the month of April, the Newcastle SPCA needs financial assistance.
Financial donations will ensure the organisation’s respective bills are paid, ensuring the animals still have a place to reside.
