As South Africans find themselves restricted to their homes, another reason has risen for us to stay at home.
KZN MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Sipho Hlomuka has placed disaster management teams on alert across the province.
This follows a warning from the South African Weather Service indicating that severe thunderstorms could hit large parts of the KZN today (April) bringing a possibility of heavy downpours, hail and localised flooding.

However, he assures residents that disaster management teams will be on standby in all districts and will be monitoring areas which are susceptible to incidents.
The MEC further urges KZN residents to exercise great caution as inclement weather conditions pose a serious risk to human life.
With the rainfall already beginning, Newcastillians are encouraged to take advantage of the nationwide lockdown and stay at home.
