Tensions are running high, as Newcastillians are to experience yet another day of loadshedding.
Head of communications at Newcastle Municipality, Dr Dumisani Thatbethe, was contacted regarding the situation. However, while he can confirm Newcastle will experience loadshedding today, December 10, he cannot confirm what times and areas will be affected.
However, Councillor Bertie Meiring has issued a message this morning, sharing the preliminary schedule.
As of 10am this morning, the Townland Substation, which is situated near Ferrum High School, was switched off. This means Barry Hertzog Park, Amajuba Park, Ncandu Park, Schuinshoogte, Sunnyridge and parts of Pioneer Park will be left in the dark.
Cllr Meiring’s message further states that from 2pm until 6pm, there will be loadshedding for the areas which were affected last night, December 9, from 7pm. This includes Hutten Heights, Amiel Park, etc.
Furthermore, from 2pm until 6pm, Lennoxton, Central A Substation near the Farmer’s Hall, as well as part of CBD. From 6pm until 11pm, Siyahlala-la and Central experience loadshedding.
While Cllr Meiring’s message sheds some light on the situation, this a preliminary schedule and changes can still occur during the day.
