The Newcastle SAPS is looking at the community for assistance. This follows the theft of Wagyu heifers from a farm in Ingogo.
Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Ncube explains that the Stock Theft Unit received information that the cattle had been stolen, following a stock count on Tuesday, November 19.
With the cattle valued at approximately at a million-rand, Captain Ncube is urging people to come forward if they know the whereabouts of the cattle.
Captain Ncube explains that while the cattle are not branded, they do have the letters “BB” tattooed on their ears.

In a separate incident, Newcastle police are investigating a murder case.
The murder allegedly took place between November 13 and November 16 at Ebenezer Street. According to Captain Ncube, the police received a complaint. Following up on the complaint, the officers found an abandoned truck.
Checking inside the vehicle, the body of a man was found. Both his face and head were swollen.
“The victim was a 35-year-old male, who was apparently a driver of the truck from Mpumalanga Province,” says Captain Ncube.
There are no arrests at this point of time and police investigations continue.
In another incident, Madadeni Crime Prevention Unit has taken two women into custody.
According to Captain Ncube, the unit received information about drugs being sold from a house in Section B.
Following up on the information, the police conducted a raid on the house, the police officers found 150 mandrax tablets. The two women are now in police custody and have made an appearance in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court.
Further police investigations in the matter will be conducted.
