Hours of weekly practice has come down to this moment. It is time to prove he is the best that there is. He makes eye contact with his opponent. Their bodies tense, waiting in anticipation for the referee to blow the whistle. The ref signals the start of the match and the two wrestlers connect, their hearts and minds set on victory.
In the pursuit of dominance, Newcastle Cougars Wrestling Club is getting amped to take the smackdown to the Centurion Warriors Wrestling Open this coming Saturday, July 20.
Set to take place at the Gauteng North Wrestling Hall, 23 wrestlers from Newcastle Cougars will be among the 1 100 wrestlers from around the country competing at the challenging tournament.
The Centurion Warriors Wrestling Open will see the participants not only hone their skills against competitors from other clubs but will also see them learning more techniques. Techniques which will develop their skills on the journey to success.
The wrestlers from Newcastle Cougars Club will be Eric de Wet, Amandus de Jager, Byrone Botha, Ricardo and Carlos Giammello, Dawie van der Linde, Lourence Visagie, Luan Labuschagnè and Damon Nell.
