With the festive season approaching, are criminals becoming more brazen in their acts?
A homeowner and two others were tied up and robbed in Ring Avenue, Hutten Heights, earlier this afternoon, November 29.
“My mother has just sold her property through an estate agent. The customers signed everything. This afternoon, the purchasers pitched up at the house and told my mom they were waiting for the estate agent,” explains the owner of the property’s son.
The homeowner contacted the estate agent, who confirmed she was on her way. While waiting, the buyers asked if they could come in.
“They asked my mother to open the gate and she let them in. The estate agent arrived at the house, and they were all sitting inside when a gun was pulled out.”

The estate agent, the homeowner and the third victim were forced to the ground and tied up. “They then took my mother and told her to open the safe. They took jewellery, cash and the revolver,” claims the home owner’s son.
The suspects also stole all three victims’ cellphones.
“They then took my mom’s keys and sped off in their vehicle,” concluded the woman’s son.
No one was seriously injured during the incident.
Police investigations are underway.
