The highly anticipate shopper’s dream day has finally arrived and millions of people are taking advantage of the day. The Newcastillian took a walk and spoke to some local shoppers on their take of this year’s Black Friday.

Skye says she found Black Friday extremely busy. “The pros to Black Friday are all the specials. But one of the cons is that it is so busy, that it actually puts a person off.”

“I think Black Friday is okay,” Keana laughs. She says she finds that one of the benefits of shopping on the day, is that products are cheaper than they usually are. “But, one of the cons is that it is so busy that you bump into a lot of people,” she smiles.

Sizwe Mavundla

“Black Friday is okay this year and I found there weren’t too many people at Amajuba Mall, which made shopping better,” he says.

Sizwe claims he saw no cons pertaining to the day, but rather saw more pros around it. “While not everything is cheaper than it usually is, a lot of the food products are cheaper than normal. This makes it an ideal day for buying food products.”

Faith claims she finds the concept of Black Friday interesting. “It gives people the chance to go shopping and buy what they are longing for at a cheaper price, which forms part of the benefits of the day.

However, she claims there are cons to the day. “Because stores are so busy, I believe there are those who will take advantage of this and try to steal.”

Sumaya Patel

Sumaya claims she finds Black Friday a nice experience. “It gives people the chance to see what the malls and stores have available.”

On the downside, she explains one of the cons is that this year’s Black Friday was not as busy as last year. “Also, there are a lot of things that were advertised that aren’t available when you go to the store.”
