How safe are women in South Africa? Are violent outbursts against women more and more common?
A mother and her daughter from Fairbreeze, Tongaat area, are the latest victims of violence against women.

On Sunday, October 7, the mother and daughter were at their home when the daughter’s ex-boyfriend came.
Allegedly, an argument broke out and the man shot the daughter, before opening fire on her mother.

KZN police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, claims the suspect came during the early hours of the morning. When the women tried to close the door of the house, the suspect fired shots.
IPSS Medical Rescue rushed to the scene. However, their efforts to save the women proved futile. In a statement, IPSS claims both women sustained fatal injuries from gunshot wounds.

The perpetrator is still at large, as he fled the scene after shooting the two women. The SAPS are now investigating the matter. However, as the SAPS investigate the matter, are violent crimes spiralling out of control? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
