Newcastle Bowls Club continued its Singles Championship on Sunday, May 20. A competitive atmosphere prevailing, as the finals for the men’s division took place.
The Singles Championship began on May 12, with 30 men and 12 women participating in the search for victory. Their sights set on defeating their opponents. In the first round of the championships, Elena Roux secured the title of Singles Champion in the women’s division.
The second round on Sunday, saw Rob Howe, Tony de Pooter, Marius Bouwer and Stephen Shaw pitted against each other. The four men displaying an amazing amount of talent, backed by hard-earned experience on the greens, ensured the semi-finals was no walk in the park.
However, Howe and Bouwer prevailed, making their way to the finals. Howe secured the win over Bower and is now the 2018 Singles Champion in the men’s division.
