oSizweni SAPS swoop down on criminal element

oSizweni SAPS are clamping down on criminal activity in the oSizweni area, following a series of arrests.

In the first incident, June 2, police arrested two men for drug possession. Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Ncube claims the recovered drugs have an estimated street value of R3 000.

Another two men were arrested for theft from a motor vehicle. The goods which they stole, has an estimated value of R3 500. They will be charged for being in possession of suspected stolen goods.

Furthermore, two men are in police custody for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm. In another incident, a man was arrested for being in possession of an illegal firearm, ammunition and an empty magazine.

Five women and one man are also in police custody for goods linked to a case of burglary and theft.

On June 3, two 9mm pstols, one magazine and three life rounds of ammunition were confiscated from the owners of two houses in oSizweni.

Further police investigations are underway.
