A collision involving a motor vehicle and a Checkers Sixty60 delivery motorbike occurred at the intersection of Impala Drive and Victoria Road, Newcastle, on Tuesday, 16 February 2026, prompting emergency response. As a result, authorities were deployed to the scene to manage the situation and ensure the safety of all road users.
The incident, which occurred shortly before 9 am, has highlighted the hazards at this busy junction.

According to officials on site, the motor vehicle was travelling along Victoria Road towards the Newcastle Central Business District, while at the same time, the Checkers delivery motorbike was moving in the opposite direction. Consequently, the two vehicles collided. Although the precise circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, authorities emphasised that no major injuries were reported.
“The matter still needs to be investigated, as the circumstances leading to the collision still need to be fully established. However, no major injuries were reported, and paramedics on scene checked the driver of the bike for any injuries,” stated an official present at the scene.
Furthermore, the distressed driver of the motor vehicle described the incident: “I was driving down Victoria Road, and at the traffic light, there was a car turning in front of me, and I honestly did not see the bike because as I was about to turn right at the traffic lights, the bike was suddenly there and we crashed.” This account highlights yet another accident of a similar nature at this intersection.

Following the collision, authorities reiterated that the matter remains under investigation and urged all motorists to exercise heightened caution. In addition, drivers were reminded to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and remain vigilant at intersections, particularly during peak periods when multiple vehicles and delivery services converge.
