According to AccuWeather’s forecast for this weekend, the communities of Newcastle, Ladysmith, and Vryheid are unlikely to see relief, with the service’s predictions aligning closely with warnings issued by the KwaZulu‑Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (KZNCoGTA).

In its public advisory, KZNCoGTA urged residents to prioritise safety and exercise extreme caution as the severe heatwave continues to affect large parts of the province.

KZNCoGTA further explained that data from the South African Weather Service (SAWS) indicates temperatures will remain well above average thresholds.

The northern regions of KwaZulu‑Natal are expected to experience these extreme conditions at least through Friday, 6 February 2026.
