The incident occurred shortly after 2 pm as the driver of a KIA SUV travelled towards the CBD along Coronation Road, while a Mazda CX-3 navigated Impala Drive.

The precise cause of the crash remains under investigation, but the KIA driver stated she was crossing the intersection when the Mazda collided with her vehicle.

“The other motorist didn’t stop and we collided and I got such a fright, that I accidentally pressed the accelerator pedal instead of the brakes,” she claimed. This led her vehicle to breach the homeowner’s perimeter wall and collide with a tree. A police official at the scene noted that a detailed investigation will determine the sequence of events.

Furthermore, the Mazda sustained damage to its left side.

Nevertheless, the homeowner, watching television at the time, recounted the moment of impact. “I was sitting and watching television, when I suddenly heard the crash, and my son yelling. I came outside immediately and saw this,” he explained.

The police official confirmed no serious injuries occurred. “There were children in the one vehicle, but they only sustained minor bruises and we had the paramedics check them to be safe,” noted the police official.
