Newcastle Woman Arrested After Stabbing Husband in Domestic Altercation

According to the SAPS, a Newcastle woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after stabbing her husband in the neck during a domestic altercation.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, 24 May 2025, when police responded to an emergency call reporting a violent incident at a residence on Magnolia Street, Arbor Park.

Upon arrival, officers found a 40-year-old man seated in the home, bleeding from a neck wound but still alive.

According to Amajuba District SAPS spokesperson, Constable Nonjabulo Langa, the woman and her husband were engaged in a heated dispute when she seized a knife and stabbed him. Constable Langa confirmed that the suspect is now in custody, awaiting further judicial proceedings.

Delving into the circumstances of the crime, Constable Langa stated that the motive remains under investigation, with authorities yet to determine whether the incident was linked to domestic violence or constituted a crime of passion.

“The Newcastle SAPS is currently investigating the matter and an attempted murder case has been opened, with the police examining the motive of the incident,” emphasised Constable Langa.
