British Australian Community Demands Australian Aid Suspension to South Africa

South Africa’s VAT Set to Rise to 16% Over Two Years

Key Points:

  • Aid Suspension Urged: The British Australian Community has demanded that Australia suspend aid to South Africa, mirroring the US response under President Trump’s executive order dated 7 February 2025, which ceased US aid due to perceived racial discrimination and property rights violations.
  • Criticism of South African Policies: Trump’s order highlights South Africa’s controversial Expropriation Act, which allows for land expropriation without compensation, seen by some as dismantling equal opportunities and encouraging violence against certain racial groups. This has been compounded by South Africa’s international stances, notably its support for Hamas by accusing Israel of genocide at the ICJ and strengthening ties with Iran.
  • Diplomatic and Human Rights Concerns: The US Embassy in South Africa has criticized South Africa for supporting terrorism abroad while ignoring human rights at home, specifically pointing to the disbandment of protective forces for farmers, which has led to increased farm attacks. This has placed South Africa under international scrutiny, affecting its global relations.
  • Local and International Reactions: The South African government, through Minister Ronald Lamola, disputes the accuracy of these claims, emphasizing the need for diplomatic solutions and highlighting the irony of offering refugee status to economically privileged groups. Simultaneously, local groups like the Solidarity Movement welcome international attention but caution against economic fallout from severed aid, advocating for dialogue and policy reform to address racial and land issues.

The South African government faces potential repercussions on the international stage, with the possibility of further additional foreign aid being curtailed.

This concern has escalated following a statement from the British Australian Community, which has called on their government to emulate the actions of United States President, Donald Trump.

On 7 February 2025, Trump enacted an executive order, decisively stating that the United States would no longer provide aid or assistance to South Africa. The order also advocates for the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees, who are escaping what is described as government-sanctioned racial discrimination, including racially motivated property expropriation.

Trump’s executive order underscores South Africa’s policies that are seen to dismantle equal opportunities in employment, education, and commerce. It also criticises the rhetoric and actions of the South African government that allegedly encourage violence against landowners from marginalised racial groups.

Furthermore, the executive order points out South Africa’s aggressive stances against the United States and its allies.

This includes accusing Israel, rather than Hamas, of genocide at the International Court of Justice and deepening ties with Iran for commercial, military, and nuclear collaborations.

As global attention shifts to South Africa, the British Australian Community has penned an open letter to its government, advocating for the suspension of Australian aid due to what they see as violations of anti-white property rights.

As the world stage now focuses on South Africa, the British Australian Community wrote an open letter to its government urging for the suspension of Australian aid to South Africa over anti-white property rights violations.

In its letter, the organisation explained that this call of action stems from South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, signing the Expropriation Act 13 into law on 23 January 2025, which would allow for the expropriation (or compulsory acquisition) of private property by the government for public purposes, or if deemed in the public interest.

While the South African government has attempted to justify implementation of the act, in its statement, the British Australian Community stated, “The South African government argues that expropriating property is a necessary tool to reduce land inequality. The ANC government has further argued that it needs to speed up the transfer of more land from White to Black South Africans. Many South Africans argue that this move by the ANC violates existing private property rights that were entrenched in South Africa’s constitution.”

Moreover, the organisation highlighted that following Trump’s announcement, they felt that their country’s government should also be more involved in the situation.

In its statement, the organisation said, “The British Australian Community believes the Australian government needs to act in a similar manner and suspend all aid to South Africa pending a thorough examination into the matter.”

Adding to this, the US Embassy and Consulates in South Africa further issued a statement regarding Trump’s decision on Monday, 10 February 2025, where it highlighted how the American President was committed to holding the local government accountable for its actions, while standing up against injustice and oppression.

In its statement, the US Embassy and Consulates in South Africa noted the following points:

1.       South Africa has taken positions against the United States and its allies.

·         Merely two months after the October 7th terrorist attacks on Israel, South Africa accused Israel, not Hamas, of genocide in the International Court of Justice.

·         South Africa also strengthened ties with Iran, which supports terrorism globally.

  1. While championing terrorism and autocratic regimes abroad, South Africa has committed similar human rights violations at home. The recent Expropriation Act enables the government of South Africa to seize ethnic minority descendants of settler groups’ agricultural property without compensation.

·         The Expropriation Act follows countless government policies designed to dismantle equal opportunity in employment, education, and business, and hateful rhetoric and government actions fueling disproportionate violence against racially disfavored landowners.

·         Years ago, the South African government disbanded volunteer forces defending rural farmers, turning a blind eye to the ensuing farm attacks.

In response, South Africa’s International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola acknowledged Trump’s order, expressing, “It is of great concern that the foundational premise of this order lacks factual accuracy and fails to recognize South Africa’s profound and painful history of colonialism and apartheid. We reiterate that South Africa remains committed to finding diplomatic solutions to any misunderstandings or disputes.”

Lamola also voiced concerns about what he perceives as a misinformation campaign, stating, “It is disappointing to observe that such narratives seem to have found favor among decision-makers in the United States of America. It is ironic that the executive order makes provision for refugee status in the US for a group in South Africa that remains amongst the most economically privileged, while vulnerable people in the US from other parts of the world are being deported and denied asylum despite real hardship.”

Flip Buys, chairperson of the Solidarity Movement, has also commented on Trump’s executive order, acknowledging the international spotlight on South Africa’s foreign policy and the Afrikaner community’s situation.

He stated, “His order and the other statements of senior American officials place the spotlight on contentious issues in South Africa, like our foreign policy and the situation of Afrikaners as an indigenous cultural community. We welcome the concern of important Americans about our situation but believe the solution must be found in South Africa. We reaffirm our firm commitment to the country and its people, although we differ with the ANC about the direction of the country, the many race laws that make us second-class citizens, their treatment of the Afrikaans community with the Bela act, laws like the Expropriation act, and the blatant threats made by certain politicians towards Afrikaners.”

Furthermore, Buys clarified several points:

  • They have not accused the government of widespread race-based land grabs or spread false information.
  • They have not sought sanctions against South Africa nor advocated for the cessation of aid to vulnerable groups.
  • They explicitly advised against excluding South Africa from the Agoa Act, highlighting the potential economic hardship for farmers and industries.
  • Trump’s order is a result of the ANC’s policies that have alienated a superpower, not due to misinformation by the Solidarity Movement.
  • The order is also a product of years of diplomatic neglect by South African diplomats.
  • The Solidarity Movement was unaware of Trump’s impending order.
  • A deteriorating relationship with the US, a significant trade partner, is not in South Africa’s best interest.

Buys announced plans to meet with President Ramaphosa and lead a delegation to the United States to discuss and contextualize South Africa’s situation.

He also pointed out that with South Africa hosting the G20 summit, its international and domestic policies should align to reflect a dedication to constitutional democracy and inclusive economic growth.

In conclusion, Buys emphasised the movement’s commitment to dialogue and cooperation, while opposing aid withdrawal and supporting South Africa’s continued participation in AGOA. He noted, “Ordinary South Africans should not bear the cost of diplomatic disputes and the ANC’s reckless policies. The withdrawal of aid could have severe social consequences and lead to increased unemployment. However, any aid must be carefully evaluated and must also address the priorities of the Afrikaner community.”

The Solidarity Movement, including Solidarity and AfriForum, representing around 600,000 Afrikaner families and 2 million individuals, plans to develop proposals to resolve disputes over expropriation and race-based policies, with more details forthcoming.

Lastly, when speaking with a white South African, who wished to remain anonymous, she stated, “For years and years, white South Africans have been treated like second-rate citizens. We have numerous laws against us and even just trying to work with a government department as a white person is just a joke, and we all know this. The general culture, taught by politicians over the years, is that every wrong in the country is due to whites and not their (the government) corruption or negligence. All of the hate and segregation created by the government is finally being seen by the world. Now they act surprised. Their dirty secrets are out and the world is now seeing what white people have endured in their own country for years.”

  1. She’s probably right by saying their is very little jobs for white people in the government departments 🤔now it’s mostly blacks in the government departments 😏a complete reverse discrimination But all the blacks and the whites forget about the indigenous people of South Africa 🤔So for me all of url don’t see us 🤔🤞including USA 😔what about us where is our land 😏if url say this land belongs to black and white 😡give us what’s due to us 🤞🤞🤞🤞😏and than we all can live with peaceful in this country 🙏🙏🙏All South Africans 🤞🤞🤞

  2. I am one of those whites that have been at the mercy of these hardships we grew up on a farm where we where attacked you know what the police did nothing they refused to help us that was 3 days after calling them for that was as a kid and for years losing or not qualifing for work because I don’t fall under their bee agenda it’s hard in this country if you are white you are treated like rubbish left to rot

  3. The ANC government had this coming. For decades they and their compatriots have pilfered and stolen from the South African people. There have been numerous investigations where they have been found to have stolen/misappropiated not hundred thousand, not millions, not hundred millions, but billions of the SA taxpayers money and enriched themselves and their cohorts, whilst the majority of mostly non-white, but also a big portion of white people, have lived in absolute sqalour and abject poverty. Ramaphosa and his cohorts want to believe and portray themselves as major role players on the world stage, and have an aire of superiority and absolute arrogance about themselves. In the meantime, they cannot even organize a piss-up in a brewery. The vast majority of them are uneducated, and very few of them have tertiary education, and are in Goverment positions through cadre deployment and nepotism. Incompetence is a requirement to serve (referred to as CMA – Cover My Arse). The more incompetent and more dishonest, the higher your position. Their regime has sorely replaced the White Apartheid Regime, with a Black Apartheid Regime. There is not one Government department and/or State Owned Entity, Nationally, Provincially, or Locally, that is effectively functional and managed, as they have mismanaged them all into the ground. There is systemic rot in them all. The more you steal and the more corrupt you are, the better your chances of a higher position in Government. We live in a lawless society, with the worst violation of humsn rights, and where a human life means absolutely nothing. We are amongst the highest ranked most violent societies in the World. Like most other countries in the world, our problems started when we opened our borders, and allowed the riff raff from neighbouring and other African countries to invade South Africa. I stand to be corrected, but I think our Government is currently rated as one of the top ten most corrupt Governments in the World. 99% of farms that were given to the previously disadvantaged, and was subsidized by Government, has failed and have been deserted, and has fallen into a state of total disrepair. The White Apartheid Government of erstwhile was forced by other Governments worldwide into change, through the current Government asking for sanctions to be imposed against and on them, so, it looks like the rooster has finally come home to roist. God help us.
