St Dominics Newcastle is renowned for its academic excellence, led by the committed and enthusiastic Executive Head, Chad Moses. His steadfast dedication to the school and its students underscores his resolve to lead with pride and distinction. However, in just over two months, the respected Executive Head will be leaving his position.

On 31 December, Chad Moses will officially conclude his tenure at St Dominics Newcastle and embark on a new chapter, assuming the position of Executive Head at Reddam House Umhlanga, a premium co-educational private school.
This decision represents a pivotal point in his career as he prepares to transition to a new setting, carrying with it both the warmth and the poignant sentiments of farewell.
Moses first took on the role of Executive Head at St Dominics Newcastle on 1 July 2020, amidst the uncertainty and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the turbulent times, he led the school through the crisis with remarkable resilience, ensuring that the learners of St Dominics Newcastle could continue their education without fear or interruption. His leadership during such a critical period will not be easily forgotten.
After four and a half years of leading St Dominics Newcastle, Moses reflected on his upcoming move to Reddam House Umhlanga, describing it as a deeply considered decision.
“It was an opportunity inspired by my former employer. After looking into Reddam House Umhlanga, it felt like a perfect fit,” he shared. Such is the opportunity, he expressed his excitement about the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the learners at his new school.
While the move presents exciting professional prospects, Moses explained that it was not purely a career-driven decision. “I’ve always been drawn to the coast, and with this move, my family and I will be close to an airport. This is wonderful as we have family in Plettenberg Bay, and we’ll be able to visit them more often,” he elaborated, sharing his joy at the personal benefits this new journey will bring.
As eager as he is for the next chapter, Moses acknowledged the heartache that comes with leaving. “I have so many wonderful memories at St Dominics Newcastle,” he said, recounting highlights such as St Dominics’ victory in academic excellence awards, seeing Dia Singh recognised as the top student in the country in 2023, the hockey boys securing second place at the Curro Games, and the recent upgrades to the pre-school playground and foundation phase.
Other cherished memories include the reopening of the school pool, the launch of indoor hockey, advancements in the school’s cultural sector, and the memorable annual astronomy evening with Angus Burns, to name a few.
As Moses prepares to bid farewell to both the school and the Newcastle community, he extended his heartfelt thanks. “St Dominics Newcastle will always hold a special place in my heart. I am deeply grateful to the staff, learners, parents, and the Newcastle community for their unwavering support over the past four and a half years and I know the new Executive Head will be greeted with open arms,” he concluded warmly.

With the countdown now on until Chad Moses and his family embark on their new journey, let us all come together to share our love and bid the Moses family a warm and heartfelt farewell.
