N11 collision sees mass looting as emergency personnel clear scene

On Tuesday morning, 13 August 2024, a multi-vehicle collision transformed the N11 into a scene of utter mayhem.

The incident unfolded at around 7:30 am after a truck laden with alcohol and an ambulance reportedly collided.

But the chaos didn’t end there. Road Angels South Africa revealed that the South African Police Service was urgently called to the scene, not just to assist with the crash but to combat rampant looting. Shockingly, looters swarmed the site, brazenly snatching vast quantities of alcohol, with little regard for the wellbeing of those involved in the collision. Amidst this pandemonium, Road Angels confirmed one small mercy—no injuries were reported.

Even though the crash occurred in the early hours, Road Angels South Africa reported that the scene remains active as clean-up operations continue.

Traffic congestion is currently plaguing the area, and Road Angels South Africa issued a stern warning to motorists: Exercise caution and resist the urge to stop and take photos of the wreckage, as emergency crews battle to clear the road.
