Emergency personnel were kept busy on Thursday, 11 June 2024, after two separate collisions left eight people injured in Newcastle and Vryheid.

The first incident occurred along Drakensberg Road in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal.
KwaZulu Private Ambulance received an urgent report and immediately dispatched their team. Chantell Botha, spokesperson for KwaZulu Private Ambulance, stated, “When emergency services arrived, they found that a vehicle had lost control and collided with a stationary truck. Paramedics quickly assessed the situation and found that four patients had sustained serious injuries and one patient had sustained minor injuries.”
All five patients were treated at the scene before being transported to the hospital for further care.

Later that day, a second collision occurred at Lakeside Crossing in Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal.
Responding to another urgent report, KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service arrived to discover a truck and car had collided. Botha reported, “Two patients sustained serious injuries due to the collision, while one other managed to escape with minor injuries.”
The three injured individuals were promptly treated on-site and then rushed to the hospital for additional medical attention.

Following the two incidents, motorists are encouraged to practice caution while travelling to avoid similar incidents from unfolding.
