A collision at the intersection of Murchison Street and Hardwick Street on Thursday morning, 13 June 2024, caused significant traffic disruption as emergency personnel responded to the scene.
According to an official police source present at the incident, the exact circumstances leading to the collision are still under investigation.
However, he stated, “The collision took place as the driver of the car was turning left into Murchison Street from Hardwick, and while the driver of the bakkie was driving down Hardwick from the direction of the CBD. The two vehicles collided and due to the impact, one of the vehicles hit one of the traffic lights.”
While the details are being verified, Charles Steyn from Magenta Emergency Medical Services confirmed that paramedics checked on the occupants of both vehicles and thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Despite the lack of injuries, Steyn advised, “Motorists are encouraged to be cautious at intersections, especially with changing traffic lights.”
