Your KZN dam levels report for the week

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has issued its most recent report outlining the current conditions of dams across KwaZulu-Natal.

The report underscores that, although numerous dams boast healthy water levels, there is a need for additional rainfall to replenish some of the reservoirs.

A detailed analysis of the provincial dams reveals the following status:

  • Albert Falls Dam: Currently, the dam’s water levels are at 103%, showing a marginal decrease from the previous week’s 103.1%.
  • Bivane Dam: Maintaining stability, Bivane Dam’s water level remains constant at 103.6%.
  • Craigie Burn Dam: The dam’s water levels have experienced a slight drop to 100.7% this week compared to the previous week’s 101.4%.
  • Driel Barrage Dam: Demonstrating stability, water levels at Driel Barrage Dam remain unchanged at 60.6%.
  • Goedertrouw Dam: Presently Goedertrouw Dam is at 100.3%, there is a slight dip from last week’s reading of 100.9%.
  • Hluhluwe Dam: Water levels at the dam are recorded at 101%, representing a decrease from the former week’s 101.8%.
  • Inanda Dam: Experiencing a minor decline from the previous week’s reading of 106.5%, Inanda Dam is currently at 104.1%.
  • Klipfontein Dam: The dam has witnessed a decrease from 104.1% to 101%.
  • Mearns Dam: Mearns Dam has noted a decline from 119.8% to 110.9%.
  • Midmar Dam: The dam registers a water level of 101% this week compared to the previous week’s 101.4%.
  • Nagle Dam: There is a significant increase at Nagle Dam, its water levels have risen from 94.1% to 100.1%.
  • Newcastle’s Ntshingwayo Dam: Ntshingwayo Dam’s water levels exhibit a slight decrease from last week’s 79.7% to 77.5%.
  • Pongolapoort Dam: Currently Pongolapoort Dam’s water levels are at 80.5%, up from last week’s 77.7%.
  • Spioenkop Dam: Spioenkop Dam maintains stability with a reading of 100.5%.
  • Spring Grove Dam: Experiencing an increase, Spring Grove Dam’s water levels have risen from last week’s 87.3% to 91.9%.
  • Wagendrift Dam: There is a slight decline in Wagendrift Dam’s water levels, dropping from 102.7% to 101.3%.
  • Woodstock Dam: According to the DWS, the dam’s water level remains constant at 87.4%.
  • Zaaihoek Dam: The dam remains unchanged at 90.6%.

While the majority of provincial dams exhibit healthy levels, residents are strongly urged to adopt water conservation practices.
