Seven people travelling in a car faced injuries on Sunday afternoon, 8 October 2023, along the R34, Utrecht Road, compelling emergency medical teams from Newcastle to respond to the scene.

The incident unfolded at approximately 4:20 pm after the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the car to overturn on the road.
While the precise circumstances leading to the driver losing control currently remain unclear, Sifiso Zwane from KwaZulu Private Ambulance reported seven injuries. Among these, four individuals sustained serious injuries, while three suffered minor injuries.
Following initial medical aid administered at the crash site, KwaZulu Private Ambulance expedited their transfer to Niemeyer Hospital in Utrecht for further medical attention.
