The incident unfolded shortly after 7 am on Hilldrop Road, just off Allen Street in Newcastle. According to Sifiso Zwane from KwaZulu Private Ambulance, the woman was driving with her child when she reportedly lost control of her vehicle.

“While the exact cause of her losing control of her car isn’t known at this stage, her car hit a tree alongside the road after she lost control,” explained Zwane.

Fortunately, both the woman and her child sustained only minor injuries. They received immediate onsite medical attention before being transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

With the mother and child now undergoing additional medical care, Zwane emphasised the importance of parents ensuring their children always wear seat belts. This safety measure, he explained, plays a crucial role in minimising injuries.
