The incident, described as gruesome and disturbing, has caught the attention of local authorities, and an investigation is underway.

According to an official police source, the alarming finding took place around 3.30 pm when a group of individuals ventured into the bush at Waterval Farm, Utrecht, in search of firewood. Their intentions for a routine activity soon turned into a nightmare when they stumbled upon the remains of a severely burned man.

The sight left the group in utter shock, prompting them to immediately report the incident to the police in Groenvlei, who quickly alerted the Utrecht Police.

Upon receiving the distressing information, officials from the Utrecht SAPS rushed to the scene encountering a man whose body had been charred beyond recognition. The circumstances surrounding the death have raised more questions than answers.

The police source revealed that while the man’s earthly remains were found burned at the location, it was speculated that he had not been killed there.

Further investigation uncovered a large sack believed to have been used to transport the deceased to the scene before he was set on fire.

As the authorities delve deeper into the case, they have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the man’s death. However, the incident is being treated as murder, and the police are taking the matter with utmost seriousness.

Anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the investigation. Their cooperation is essential in bringing the perpetrators to justice and providing closure to the grieving family of the deceased.

Those who have any information related to the incident are encouraged to approach the Utrecht SAPS on 034 331 2010, or they can contact the SAPS Crime Stop Centre on 08600 10111.
