The celebration also saw a candle ceremony where Mediclinic Newcastle’s nursing staff remembered their obligations as a nurse and why they pursued a career that focused on others.

The hospital’s Nursing Manager, Dr Yvonne Combrinck, highlighted the importance of nurses and their constant dedication, especially in the face of the global nursing shortage.

Senior Professional Nurse Lindani Mncube, Mediclinic Newcastle

The celebration culminated in the awarding of the Nursing Excellence Award winner to Senior Professional Nurse, Lindani Mncube.

Mncube expressed his surprise and gratitude for the award, saying that nursing is a service to mankind, requiring honesty, integrity, and passion.

Deputy Nurse Manager Avril Daniels, Mediclinic Newcastle

Furthermore, Avril Daniels, Mediclinic Newcastle’s Deputy Nursing Manager, also shared her joy in nursing and caring for patients, stressing the profession’s noble and fulfilling nature.
