Ladysmith Councillor has 20-min sexual voice recording get out

Voice recording

The Alfred Duma (Ladysmith) Municipality has found itself embroiled in a sex scandal following a most undignified voice note from a councillor going viral.

The matter was brought forward by the ANC, demanding that steps be taken against the Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal Councillor, who was found to be using his position to obtain sexual acts from an employee.

With this all coming to light, the KZN ANC saluted the woman for coming forward saying that she had detailed how the accused councillor offered to renew her employment contract in return for sex.

The KZN ANC further said that there was a 20-minute-long explicit audio clip in which the councillor sleeps with a vulnerable municipal staff member.

“After the embarrassing sexual intercourse, he could be heard assuring the woman that her contract would not be terminated. The Municipal Finance Management Act prohibits councillors from having inappropriate interference in the administration,” said the ANC in a statement.

The political party stressed that it would ensure a full-scale investigation would be conducted.

With immense pressure now being placed on the Ladysmith Municipality, the municipal entity issued a statement. Whereby, the municipality stated that it had noted with great concern a voice note making its rounds on social media.

“In light of this, the Municipality is currently conducting an internal investigation on the matter, in an attempt to identify the female victim in the clip.”

Moreover, the Alfred Duma Municipality said that the Mayor, Cllr Zama Sibisi, had reported the matter to his political party, the IFP. and the Municipality is now hoping that the Party will invoke its processes and advise the Alfred Duma Municipality as such.

“As a Municipality that has been outspoken against any kind of abuse against women, we find it very disturbing to find that people are being coerced into sexual acts for job opportunities. This Municipality does not put its vacancies ‘up for sale’. We take the trust given to us by the people very seriously and we cannot hide this culprit, who is abusing the name of our Municipality to conduct their self-serving behaviour,” added the Alfred Duma Municipality.

Furthermore, the municipal entity said it strongly sympathised with the victim and condemned this shameful act in the strongest terms.
