Following the recent release of the 2022 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results, one Madadeni, KwaZulu-Natal learner has stood out from the crowd of local matriculants as one of the Grade 12 Top Achievers.
Sinakhokonke Siyaya from Phendukani Full Service High School, Madadeni, obtained eight distinctions and placed second under (Quintile 4) Schools at a national level.
Following her accolades, the Amajuba District Municipal Mayor, Cllr. Ndabuko Zulu, and the Speaker of Council, Cllr S.O Zulu, were invited to a celebration assembly honouring Siyaya’s achievement hosted by Phendukani Full Service High School on Monday, 23 January 2023.
The Amajuba District Municipality’s Communications Unit explained that Cllr Zulu used this platform to congratulate Sinakhokonke on her outstanding achievements and highlighted the important role she had played in positioning the Amajuba District as one of the top Districts in the Northern Kwazulu Natal.
He further went on to encourage the Class of 2023 and the entire school to follow in Sinakhokonke’s footsteps and applauded the Educators and school Principal for the exceptional job they were doing to groom the next generation of leaders.
The Mayor presented congratulatory gifts to both Sinakhokonke Siyaya and Nokwethemba Mashaba, who came second in the Province. “The mayor hopes the gifts will boost the learners as they commerce with their university education,” said the Communications Unit.
In closing, Cllr Zulu emphasised that he looked forward to meeting the Top 10 achievers at the annual Grade 12 Mayoral Excellence Awards, to which the date will be communicated in due cause.
