The OppiDam Festival takes Utrecht by storm

Estimated reading time: 10 minutes

This past weekend a Newcastle Winter Festival project had people relishing the outdoors, dressing up, enjoying live music and soaking up great company. Getting people out of their houses and onto creative, custom rafts, the OppiDam Festival brought Balele Resort in Utrecht to life.

Newcastle Sakekamer‘s Vice President Angelique van Vuuren gives us the rundown of the event, “The OppiDam Festival is a new part of the Winter Festival, where we are bringing something new and innovative for the community to enjoy.”

Kicking off on Friday,28 January 2022, continuing through Saturday, 29 January 2022, the OppiDam Festival had festivalgoers participating in a host of activities.

Looking to the future, van Vuuren says that the dedicated and highly skilled Winter Festival committee, an asset to the Sakekamer, has affirmed that they will definitely be looking at making the OppiDam Festival an annual event.

  • Trix from Buffelsfontein & Red Square for their sponsorship of the indoor entertainment.
