Winter Festival to bring festive joy to 125 children

There are children in our community who will be without gifts during this holiday season. For them, holiday cheer is found in other people’s homes and not in their lives. Therefore, the Winter Festival team is working to bring holiday cheer to as many local, less fortunate children as possible.

The Winter Festival helps the less fortunate by reinvesting funds raised, back into the community every year. The Festive Box Initiative is one of the ways it accomplishes this.

According to Armand Botha of the Winter Festival, the Winter Festival Project focuses on children who are beneficiaries of local feeding schemes at various schools.

“This is the third year we’ve been working on this project. We thought it would be a great idea to give these children something during the holiday season, as approximately 95% of them do not receive anything on Christmas day.”

Because of this, the Winter Festival creates gift packs that contain age-appropriate toys and sweets. “Despite the Show not taking place this year, nor last year, our sponsors helped make this initiative possible,” states Armand.

As a result, the Winter Festival will provide gift packs to 125 children from Newcastle and Madadeni. It is important to note that each of the children was identified by their respective schools.

As the Winter Festival prepares to distribute these love-filled gifts, bringing festive joy to local children, the team expresses heartfelt gratitude to all of their sponsors. Their contribution ensures that 125 children do not have a disheartening holiday season.
