Megan Morgenrood of Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, recently competed in the Talent Africa Nationals 2021, bringing home five gold medals.
Talent Africa attracts a large number of outstanding models and entertainers, exposing them to a world of possibilities. Competitors in Talent Africa have the opportunity to perform in front of local and international scouts. This, in turn, gives them the opportunity to be scouted for future employment opportunities.
Talent Africa has a number of sister organizations, including the Federation of Performing Arts South Africa (F.P.A.S.A) and Discover Our Talent (D.O.T).
D.O.T is where talent scouts and international industry experts can see registered members’ resumes and profiles, while F.P.A.S.A provides Federation Colours for Performing Arts. This is for people who want to work in professional television, film, or theatre.
Megan won gold in the following categories while competing at the national level of Talent Africa from October 1 to October 5, 2021:
- Casual Modelling
- Formal Modelling
- High Fashion Modelling
- Photogenic Headshot
- Face of Talent Africa
This is an incredible accomplishment, especially considering how well she performed in Talent Africa’s regional round earlier this year.
Megan received a silver for ballet dance, a bronze for contemporary dance, a silver for modelling high fashion, a gold for photogenic, and another gold for modelling casual at the regionals. Megan was also given the prestigious honour of becoming the face of Talent Africa KZN.
It was because of this that she was chosen for the Nationals. Click here to learn more about Megan’s experience at the Regionals.
Megan notes that while the event was stressful to some extent, it was an incredible thrill to be back on stage at the Talent Africa Nationals. Because the regionals were held digitally.
“It was great to be back, seeing all the familiar faces from the previous event, and, of course, the atmosphere was fantastic,” she exclaims.
Then, as Megan points out, seeing the audience’s and judges’ reactions when she and the other competitors took the stage added to the event’s liveliness.
Megan smiles and explains her awards, saying, “I’d like to participate in the international competition. After that, I plan to enter the modeling industry in 2022, join a modeling agency, and possibly travel abroad.”
Megan tells that the modelling world captivates her on multiple levels. “I adore dressing up and wearing different outfits, but I really appreciate the atmosphere. Then there’s the self-assurance that comes with modeling, which comes with meeting new people and growing your social circle.”
Furthermore, the young up-and-comer explains that her role model is Candice Swanepoel, a South African model and philanthropist. “Coming from South Africa, Candice demonstrates that it doesn’t matter where you come from; you can achieve anything regardless of your background.”
