Ladysmith Mayor appears in court alongside his daughter

The Mayor of the Alfred Duma Municipality in Ladysmith, Vincent Mayiboyi Madlala, appeared in the Ezakheni District Court on Monday, 2 August 2021, with his daughter, Sanelisiwe Sinazo Madlala. 

The Regional Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Natasha Kara, said, “The pair appeared on charges of Unlawful Possession of Firearms, while the mayor faces an additional charge of Defeating / Obstructing the Administration of Justice.”

The pair were released on bail of R10 000 each. As part of their bail conditions, Kara explains, “The mayor must report every Friday between 6am and 6pm to the Ezakheni Police Station, while Sinazo Madlala must report every Wednesday between 6am and 6pm at the same station.”

Their matter was remanded to 22 October 2021 for further investigations.
