The up and coming football star from Kilbarchan, Northern KwaZulu-Natal, 19-years-old Wandile Mthethwa, has some big plans for the future—beginning with the Dana Cup Hjørring 2021 in Denmark.
The Dana Cup Hjørring 2021 is one of the world’s largest football tournaments and caters to boys’ and girls’ teams, organised into age groups ranging from U12 to U19. In the first phase of play, games are played in a round-robin format with groups of 4 or 5 teams. Based on their results in this first phase, teams advance into either the ‘A’ or ‘B’ finals brackets, where games are played in a knockout format.

Taking place from 26 July 2021 to 31 July 2021, the event will see 1, 100 soccer teams from 45 countries take to the field, representing their respective countries at an international level. An event, Wandile is thrilled about participating in.
Wandile explains that he was selected in January 2021. Representing Nkosiyethu Football Stars and Empire Jesus Sport Center, he says his invitation to the international event will indeed be an experience of a lifetime. “I am extremely happy about the invitation and during my time there, I intend to showcase my talent and I would love to be selected to play for Copenhagen.” By participating in the Dana Cup Hjørring 2021 and possibly being selected for one of the country’s teams, Wandile adds that he would eventually like to see himself playing in the European Premier League.
Training every day for two to three hours, this football lover describes soccer teaches its players valuable life lessons. “Soccer is the only thing I am good at and it has taught me discipline, to stay focused , and the importance of working with others. It has also taught me self-confidence,” he declares.
However, while he hopes to dominate at the upcoming football tournament, Wandile needs the community’s support. He requires sponsorship to the value of R 30 000, covering his flight costs, accommodation, transportation, visa application, and travel insurance.
In order to see Wandile Mthethwa achieve his dreams of becoming an international soccer star, Newcastillians are urged to contact his sister Bongiwe Mthethwa on 076 701 6218 to learn how they can contribute to his upcoming trip.
The team at Pixelfish Marketing and the Newcastillian – Online News wishes Wandile all the best for the future.
