A handful of learners from Drakensberg Primary School recently took part in the South African Language Association’s KZN Midlands Reading Festival semi-final round on Saturday, 15 May 2021.
Taking part in various categories, namely Afrikaans Voorbereide Lees, English FAL Prepared Reading and English Home Language Prepared Reading, the children were thrilled to yet again read in front of the adjudicators, Leanie du Plessis and Kobus du Plessis.
First place in their respective categories:
- Josua Badenhorst – Grade 5
- Jessica van Tonder – Grade 6
- Michaela van Zyl – Grade 7
- Martin Swanepoel – Grade 6, he also clinched second place in a different category.
- Lwandiswa Magubane – Grade 3
- Abongwe Ntanzi – Grade 4
- Janu Badenhorst – Grade 3
- Mila Truter – Grade 4
- Aubrie Schoombee – Grade 4, also third place in another category.
Second place in their respective categories:
- Kwando Mayisela – Grade 4
- Blanché van Rooyen – Grade 5
- Senamile Malinga – Grade 3
- Sibusisiwe Dlamini – Grade 5
- Cara Breedt – Grade 3
- Nathan van der Merwe – Grade 4
- Kyla Kamukapa – Grade 6
Third place in their respective categories:
- Marcus van der Merwe – Grade 5
- Nicola Smith – Grade 6
- Teshandre Mungroo – Grade 6
- Abande Mbatha – Grade 4
- Lethokuhle Khumalo – Grade 3
Fourth place in her respective category: Elanie van Zyl – Grade 5.
