Local SAPS units make arrests during an intelligence-driven operation

Lurking within the shadows of society are individuals who prey on law-abiding citizens, using dastardly deeds to make money.

Determined to remove these people from our communities, the South African Police Services (SAPS) continuously embarks on missions to locate and arrest them.

Recently, the oSizweni Policing area joined forces with Newcastle Public Order Policing (POP) Unit and oSizweni Crime Prevention Unit in an intelligence-driven operation.

The first stop was in the operation was at a house in the Mndozo area, which is situated next to Khethokuhle School. At the house, the police officers recovered six full mandrax tablets, two halves of mandrax tablet, one-quarter of a mandrax tablet and an okapi knife.

From there, the police officers went to a house in Section B, oSizweni. At the house, the officers recovered two car stereos, one JVC car stereo and a Concord car stereo. 

But the intelligence-driven operation did not end there. Following up on further information, the police team continued to a house in Jakalaaspan at Sibisi Stand.

Once there, the team recovered one full mandrax tablet, one half of mandrax tablet, and one quarter of a mandrax tablet.

The total value for drugs recovered is estimated at the street value of R3000.  The estimated value of the car stereos is R3600.

The suspect will now face legal repercussions for their actions. Well done to the officers involved in the intelligence-driven operation.
