
In the pursuit of justice, oSizweni SAPS are proving to be a formidable opponent against the criminal element.
On August 6, an intelligence-driven operation was conducted in the oSizweni Policing Area with the assistance of the oSizweni Crime Prevention Unit.
At a house in Section A, oSizweni, the police officers recovered four full mandrax tablets and one quarter mandrax tablet.
From there the officers moved onto Section B, where they recovered six full mandrax tablet and one-quarter mandrax tablet.
The officers then proceeded to a house at Grootgeluk Farm in the oSizweni area, where they confiscated a further six full mandrax tablets.
Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Ncube explains the confiscated drugs have an estimated street value of R3000. The three suspects caught with the drugs will now be charged and appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court.
Another intelligence-driven operation in oSizweni was held on August 7, where officers targeted a residence at Grootgeluk Farm.
At the home, the officers found seven live rounds of ammunition for a 9mm pistol. Two suspects are now in custody for being in possession of illegal ammunition.
Recently, Newcastle Cluster Task Team joined forces with the oSizweni Crime Prevention Unit, to participate in an intelligence-driven operation.
During the operation, a vehicle was searched and six rounds of ammunition for a 9mm were recovered. A further three halves of mandrax tablets and one-quarter tablet was recovered in Section As well as two air guns with an empty magazine.
Following up on information on a robbery case which took place in Newcastle, the team of police officers proceeded to a house in the Manzana area, in the oSizweni area. On their arrival at the house, the team recovered 82 cell phones and R6 320 in cash.
With one suspect arrested for drug possession, another in custody for being in possession of illegal air guns, one arrested for six rounds of ammunition and a further four suspects arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen good, Captain Ncube says the operation can be considered a success.
Well done to the officers for ensuring the criminal element is removed from society.
