Healthcare plays an instrumental role in everyday life. As per every industry in the world, technology is aiding the medical world to achieve goals, which were once unimaginable a few decades ago.

Sister Lee-Anne Bach with her clinic, Complete Wound Care is another great example of how technology is assisting mankind. Situated at 23 Kwikstertjie, Complete Wound Care is an asset to Newcastillians.

“I have been a registered nurse for 30 years and I have always enjoyed working with wounds,” she says.

While admitting that wound care is not a part of healthcare some might enjoy, she describes it as a passion.

“I enjoy being able to work with the patient, seeing the progress of the wound healing and being able to make a positive difference within a person’s life.”

Assisted by Sr Jeannie Gibson, a fellow registered nurse, over the past two years, Sr Bach has brought about a dramatic change in the way wounds and injuries are treated.

Recently, Sr Bach has brought a new method of treating wounds in Newcastle.

“I recently acquired the first Bioflex laser, which is a first for Newcastle. The results from the Bioflex laser are immediate, truly offering relief to people in pain,” she says.

The technology used by the new machinery utilises superluminous and laser diodes to irradiate diseased or traumatised tissue with photons. These particles of energy are selectively absorbed by the cell membrane and intracellular molecules, resulting in the initiation of a cascade of complex physiological reactions, leading to the restoration of normal cell structure and function.

Furthermore, laser therapy is a highly effective method in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, arthritis, sports injuries, wound healing and a wide range of dermatological conditions.

“However, it is not a miracle cure and a person must come for more than one session for it to work. But, unlike other forms of treatment, laser therapy does not deal solely with the symptoms of the issue, but rather the cause,” explains Sr Bach.

Issues which laser therapy can assist with include:
  • Ligament, tendon and muscle tears
  • Fractures
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Degenerative Osteoarthritis
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Eczema
  • Herpes (Post-herpetic Neuralgia)
  • Trauma Wounds
  • Compression Wounds
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Gout
  • Temporo-mandibular Joint Dysfunction

With Sr Bach focusing on getting to the root of one’s issue, she assures the process is pain-free. “It is cold-laser therapy and people do not have to worry about experiencing any form of pain from the treatment.”

As Sr Bach prepares to eliminate pain and heal Newcastle’s wounds, be sure to visit her at 23 Kwikstertjie or contact her on 082 449 0607 for more information.
