When it comes to the world of design and creativity, Chrichele Wilkinson is in her element. Bringing about an array of designs and decoration to life with her business, Elegance by Design.
“Elegance by Design is an interior decorating company, which offers decorating advice and designs,” says Chrichele.
The Dundee based Elegance by Designs opened its doors on October 2, its passion to turn its clients’ dreams into a reality.
“We don’t only focus on decorating interiors,” says Chrichele. She emphasises the company also offers a garden landscaping service, where it designs stunning gardens for clients. “We also offer a renovation service, where we manage the project and all contractors involved, so clients don’t need to stress about finding the relevant contractors. We have excellent teams that can handle anything.”
Furthermore, Chrichele says the team of three women are passionate, with no challenge too big for them. Always striving to create a designer look and always going the extra mile for their clients.
As the owner of Design by Elegance, how did Chrichele get into design and starting her establishment?
“My passion has always been designing. As well as making a change in the appearance of a client’s interior or exterior of their residence and commercial building. Both My parents have creative backgrounds. My mom is a garden landscaper and my dad is an architect, so I grew up watching them design for their clients. This triggered my passion to do the same. I have been blessed to have guidance from them both.”
What does Chrichele enjoy about designing?
She says it is seeing her clients thrilled about the designs and the completion of the projects. “That absolute joy the client feels when you transform an old look into something brand new and stunning while considering what their needs are, really makes all the hard work of designing so worth it.”
Classifying the opening of Elegance by Design as one of the highlights of her career, Chrichele is now setting her sights on the future.
“Every day, I think of more and more plans for our future at Elegance by Design. There is just so much we want to achieve.”
At present, Chrichele wants to see her business expand to other areas in KwaZulu-Natal. “We are prepared to travel anywhere with our designs.”
With her sights set on designing a bright future for Elegance by Designs and its clients, what does it take to be a designer?
“It is important to have a vision, creative mind, be driven and a dedicated personality. Also, stay unique,” Chrichele emphasises.
