A cloud of billowing black smoke fills the sky in Sutherland Street. A fire engulfs tyres behind a business premises.
It is believed the inferno was caused through a veld fire. “We were inside, when we saw smoke. When we opened the doors, we saw everything was lit up,” says Tevin Maharaj, an employee at the business in question.
Bystanders and employees immediately started throwing water at the flames, hoping to extinguish the fire, while waiting for the Fire Brigade.
Emergency personnel are now at the scene to kill the fire. No injuries are reported.
