Boschpick Engineering, a leading South African foundry and engineering manufacturer with deep roots in Newcastle and clients across multiple industries nationwide, today announced a leadership transition following the passing of CEO Jaco Landsberg in December 2025.

The company is pleased to confirm the appointment of Cheanelle De Valence as its new Managing Director, effective immediately.

Director Bongani Khumalo and Managing Director Cheanelle De Valence

Cheanelle has been an integral part of Boschpick Engineering since 2017, contributing almost a decade of experience, deep industry knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. She steps into the Managing Director role alongside Directors Bongani Khumalo and Phillip Majali, forming a strong leadership team dedicated to driving the business forward and accelerating strategic growth.

“We are honoured to carry forward Jaco’s legacy of engineering excellence, innovation, and community impact,” said Cheanelle De Valence. “Our focus remains on delivering outstanding quality for our clients while strengthening Boschpick’s position as a trusted partner across South Africa’s industrial sectors.”

Boschpick Engineering has built a reputation for precision manufacturing, machining, foundry services, and bespoke engineering solutions tailored to client specifications.

The company’s comprehensive in-house capabilities include conventional and CNC machining, gear cutting, fabrication, welding, gearbox production and reconditioning, as well as premium castings for a wide range of applications. Boschpick remains ISO 9001:2015 certified, reflecting its commitment to rigorous quality standards and continuous improvement.

Despite recent industry challenges, including the cessation of long steel production at AMSA’s Newcastle Works, the company emphasises its ongoing relationship with the national AMSA group and its extensive client base throughout South Africa. Boschpick continues to supply and collaborate with major industrial partners in mining, power generation, manufacturing, rail, construction, and more — extending far beyond local production hubs.

“While shifts in the steel sector have caused uncertainty in the region, Boschpick Engineering remains resilient, diversified, and focused on serving clients nationwide,” added Bongani Khumalo. “Our long-standing partnerships and multifaceted service offerings position us strongly for the future.”

Under the leadership of Cheanelle De Valence, Bongani Khumalo, and Phillip Majali, Boschpick Engineering will continue its tradition of excellence — delivering innovative engineering solutions while creating sustainable employment and contributing to the growth of South Africa’s industrial landscape.
