The violent event occurred at approximately 8 am on Wednesday, 13 August 2025, and TRIVS Emergency Medical Services responded promptly to deliver critical care to the injured student, while local police officers rushed to the scene to establish what had transpired.

While the circumstances leading to the stabbing remain uncertain, Duresha Jugernath from TRIVS provided clarity on the emergency response. “The patient had been stabbed multiple times, with our team stabilising him on the scene, before transporting him to Madadeni Hospital for further treatment and care,” said Jugernath, adding that, although the learner’s age could not be disclosed, his injuries were serious and required urgent medical intervention.

In seeking further details, Newcastillian News attempted to obtain a statement from St Oswald’s Secondary School. However, security personnel barred journalists from entering the premises to engage with school management. Moreover, when contacted by telephone, the school declined to comment on the incident.

Similarly, when Newcastillian News approached Newcastle SAPS, spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam explained that no official statement could be issued until additional details were gathered. Nevertheless, she assured that further information would be shared once available.

This remains a developing story, and Newcastillian News will continue to provide updates as more details emerge.

  1. Pathetic behavior.
And even more pathetic from St Oswald’s.
Why not let journalists in? Maybe they are worried that the management (or lack therof) might be exposed?

    1. This incident should have never taken place, had the school management and staff paid attention to your issues.
I am sorry this happened to your child.
As a parent, I understand all too well how you feel.

    2. I’m going through exactly the similar situation at Tugela Prevocational School, my son was threatened not to come back to school after he was beaten on Wednesday and he is home ever since

  4. Sts Oswald’s management is fine this happened because of the war between the boys and the knife was taken out cops came and the issue was resolved

The facts show they were negligent. Plain and simple.
Nothing to defend, unless you are part of the management, or family of the management.
Management should take the responsibility for their lack of appropriate preventative action.
