What was meant to be a routine errand at the Newcastle Police Station for a young 16-year-old boy has plunged his mother into a heart-wrenching state of worry as he has not returned home.

Khanyisani Ximba was last seen making his way to the Newcastle Police Station from Siyhalahla-la on Wednesday, 29 January 2025, to certify documents. According to Belinda Ellor from the Newcastle Community Policing Forum (CPF), the teenager left his home at 5 pm on that Wednesday, embarking on what should have been a simple task.

“When he never returned home, his mother immediately began searching for him that same evening,” said Ellor, emphasising the urgency and distress of the situation. By Thursday morning, 30 January 2024, the distraught mother, grappling with rising panic, filed a missing person’s report at the very station where her son was last seen, with Ellor providing support to the anguished parent.

Now, with the Newcastle CPF and Newcastle SAPS dedicating their efforts to find Khanyisani, the community of Newcastle is called upon to join in this critical search, to bring comfort and reunion to a mother’s anguished heart.

Khanyisani was last seen in blue jeans, a maroon shirt, and black Crocs shoes. If anyone holds any information that could lead to his safe return, they are implored to contact:

  • Belinda – 071 404 3575
  • Brian – 63 130 6867
  • Constable Archart from the Newcastle SAPS – 065 828 9385.

As Khanyisani’s mother waits in anxious anticipation for her son’s safe return, let us all embody the spirit of community and compassion by actively participating in this search. Every effort, no matter how small, could be the key to bringing peace back to a mother’s life.
