The recent actions of a police officer at Amajuba Mall in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, have generated far-reaching attention.
As a result of the officer disregarding the law, parking in the middle of a road in the busy mall while tending to some errands. The local police department announced it is taking a firm stance against his lawless behaviour.
If you can recall, the Newcastillian – Online News reported on the police vehicle’s wheel clamping at the popular shopping centre a week ago.
When asked about the infringement, the Amajuba Mall’s management declared that they would not tolerate rule violations. Whereby they further stated that any and all people who choose to disregard the rules and regulations (regardless of job title) would be dealt with.

While the security and facility management were praised for their actions, the South African Police Service (SAPS) is now taking action against the aforementioned police officer.
The officer in question is said to be based at Madadeni Police Station.
Following reports of his actions, the local SAPS has stated that it will not tolerate any offence from its members. Lizzy Arumugam, Media Liaison for Newcastle Corporate Communications, said that the SAPS is disappointed with the said official’s actions. “An internal disciplinary enquiry is currently under investigation.”
Furthermore, Arumugam notes that no one is above the law. Therefore, any transgressions must be reported to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
