Conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 vaccine continue to circulate, becoming increasingly ridiculous as time passes. According to the most recent theory, the vaccine causes people to become cannibals.
This comes after Nomagugu Simelane, MEC for Health in KwaZulu-Natal, addressed rumours that the vaccine would turn people into bloodthirsty cannibals.
The Health MEC told the crowd at Magabeni Sports Grounds near Umkomaas on Tuesday, 26 October 2021, that she is living proof that the vaccine does not change people.
“As I stand before you, I’ve never had the urge to eat anyone, and it will never happen. So, what people are saying about the vaccine making people want to eat others… of being part of 5G technology, or being linked to the work of the devil, is all nothing but a myth. It is not true,” she emphasised.
The MEC was speaking at a mobile community outreach programme called Isibhedlela Kubantu, which drew over 500 people, mostly elderly people.
With MEC Simelane confronting the masses about the ludicrous rumour, the KZN Health Department points out that the province has over 3,233 million vaccinated residents. Importantly, none of those who received the vaccine became bloodthirsty cannibals.
Additionally, as of 26 October 2021, the country had administered 21 514 033 doses since the vaccine rollout program’s inception.
Furthermore, South Africa now has 11 697 646 fully vaccinated adults, with 61 997 adolescents receiving single Pfizer shots.
