Proudly publishing the successes of law enforcement, in recent news, a criminal couple is expected to appear in the Harrismith Magistrate’s Court for drug dealing, thanks to a roadblock on the N3 Harrismith.
Giving us a rundown of how the travelling drug duo came to be in police custody, Police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele explains that on 9 August 2021, at about 5 pm, a white Audi Q4 with a KZN registration was stopped during a routine stop and search roadblock on the N3 Harrismith. “The vehicle with two occupants, a driver and a female companion was searched in their presence. In the boot, a plastic bag was found with 1 000 Mandrax weighing 1,618kg, with an estimated street value of R200 000,00,” affirmed Brigadier Makhele.
Now in custody, waiting to face legal repercussions, the two represent the country’s drug community’s cavalier attitude towards drug dealing. This, in its own right showcasing the sheer level of concern surrounding the volume of drugs throughout the country.
