As South Africans find themselves focusing on the civil unrest in the country, a newborn baby has narrowly escaped certain death thanks to a homeless man doing his rounds.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, 11 July 2021, Emer-G-Med paramedics were called to assist Durban Metro Police Services after a homeless man made a shocking discovery while dumpster diving outside Boscombe Place in the South Beach area.

Emer-G-Med said, “Paramedics responded to the scene and found a newborn baby girl in the dustbin, still attached to her umbilical cord and placenta.”

The baby was treated and stabilised on the scene, before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care. Emer-G-Med adds, “She remains in a stable condition and good spirits. We commend the homeless gentleman for alerting authorities and ultimately saving this little lady’s life.”

The South African Police Services will be investigating the incident accordingly.

The Newcastillian – Online News team would like to thank and congratulate the homeless saviour, and we wish the little girl a bright and blessed future.
