A teacher’s role in a child’s education is paramount. Their guidance ensures learners reach their full potential. However, what happens when teachers are a source of a learner’s pain?
This follows a Madadeni teacher’s suspension after he was accused of pouring boiling water over six learners.
It is believed that the students who were assaulted, had been sleeping in the teacher’s class when the incident took place.
Muzi Mahlambi, the KwaZulu-Natal Education spokesperson, claims there is going to be a disciplinary hearing, as to determine all the facts. Due to the seriousness of the incident, Mahlambi says disciplinary action will be taken against the teacher.
As the Madadeni teacher finds himself in hot water, he is not the only KZN teacher who has recently been suspended from his duties.
Earlier this month, a teacher based at Tongaat Secondary School was suspended, following allegations of sexual misconduct with a pupil.
According to reports, he was caught exchanging graphic material through WhatsApp messages with the learner. The Department of Education claimed this included photos and text messages.
