The youth embrace streaming services such as Showmax and Netflix, with YouTubers and social media personalities now consuming their screens.
One cannot help but reminisce about the good old days when TV was a bit more simplified with shows like YO-TV and KTV commandeering many young people’s attention daily. With idealised presenters introducing our favourite cartoons while keeping us entertained through on-set activities and games, thereby creating a wonderland which many children fell in love with.
While television and entertainment have come a far way since those days, have you ever pondered about what happened to the presenters of yesteryear?
Have you ever given a second thought to the child stars who played a significant role in our daily lives?
If so, let us look at what these former stars are now doing with their lives:
Sade Giliberti

Sade will forever be remembered for her vibrant personality on YO-TV, but her career in the entertainment industry did not end there.
Following the popular children’s show, she landed a job as a presenter for So you think you can dance, in 2008. From there, she went on to win the South African film and television award for the best presenter in a Variety show.
During the course of 2011, Sade became a radio presenter on the independent Chai FM channel, co-hosting a show called The jam session.
Then, in 2013, Sade and Roxy Burger, a former child star known for her work as a present on KTV, co-hosted a programme on MTV South Africa.
In 2016, Sade decided to venture into a new field, working as a photographer, videographer, and a web content creator.
It is essential to highlight that she relocated to London back in 2015 and has since starred in the multi-award-winning web series Spectrum London.
Sipho Ngwenya

Sipho Ngwenya, also known as Psyfo, was widely popular and known for his energetic and vibrant personality on YO-TV.
In 2004, Psyfo decided to pursue a career in music. His self-titled debut album made its way into stores during the course of 2005 and featured prominent local artists such as MXO, Skwatta Kamp and ProVerb.
Psyfo also produced the album himself and subsequently has released other albums, which were released in 2004, 2007 and 2011.
Psyfo also started a record label, Sid Records.
However, when it comes to television, Psyfo’s most significant break came in 2006 when he landed the role of Ajax on Generations. Additionally, in February 2012, Psyfo landed his own radio show called, Lekwafusion on Transafrica Radio.
Roxy Burger

Many remember Roxy during her time as a presenter on M-Net’s KTV. From a young age, she has sported an illustrious career in the entertainment industry.
After finishing matric, Roxy enrolled at the University of Johannesburg, doing a three-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Audiovisual Production Management.
She also presented and produced Teen Gospel Live. A show which began in November 2007 and broadcast live four days a week on the DStv religious channel ONE Gospel.
Following this, in 2013, she joined Sade Giliberti as the co-host of the MTV magazine programme, MTV Choice, and During 2014, Roxy hosted the seventh season of Strictly Come Dancing on SABC3.
She further joined the channel’s magazine/lifestyle show, Top Billing as a presenter in the same year.
Then in 2015, she returned to host the eighth season of Strictly Come Dancing. Finishing off with Strictly Come Dancing, Roxy hosted the E! Africa reality makeover series How Do I Look? South Africa, back in 2017.
Additionally, in 2017, Roxy started her own blog, www.roxyburger.co.za
where she has expanded on her love for content creation.
Furthermore, during 2013 he joined the cast of the Mzansi Magic drama series Rockville in the role of Sandile Nkambule.
Musa Mthombeni

Musa is known for his time as a presenter on the show, YO-TV. However, he did not stay in the entertainment industry, as many other child stars often do.
Following his time on YO-TV, he became a radio presenter in 2010, and between 2012 and 2014, he worked as an on-air host for YFM.
He’s also stared in the eighth episode of the first season of “Boy Next Door”, an e.tv drama and anthology series.
This was followed by him landing a supporting role during the course of 2013 in the second season of “Intersexions”, a drama series aired on SABC1.
In 2014, he featured in Ek Joke Net 2, a comedy film.
However, not many know that he studied medicine at Wits University and has since become a full-time doctor.
Candice Hillebrand

Who can ever forget the beautiful Candice Hillebrand from Mnet’s KTV? Joining the ranks of KTV at the tender age of six-year-old, Candice has made a substantial name for herself in the entertainment industry.
Following her time on the children’s show, she went on to appear in numerous commercials and has acted in both TV and film.
In 2002, she signed with Musketeer Records and in 2003, released her debut album, Chasing Your Tomorrows. She has also appeared in Maxim magazine.
And In 2008, Hillebrand was offered the role of Nina Williams, a character in the film adaptation of the popular video game series, Tekken.
