In a twist of fate or karmic justice, upon arresting a 33-year-old man,  for possession of crystal meth and cocaine during a raid in Illovo, KwaZulu-Natal, police stumbled upon a variety of extremely unsettling content on the man’s phone.

Upon confiscating the drugs, which had an estimated street value of R94 000, the police officers took the man to the Amanzimtoti Police Station for processing.

However, while processing the suspect, the SAPS discovered that the 33-year-old man had child pornography on his phone. Comprising of photos and videos which immediately saw officers take the matter further.

He was then charged for possession of drugs and for being in possession of child pornography.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele says investigating officers from the Provincial Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences: Serial and Electronic Crimes Investigation Unit are conducting further investigations.

“The suspect’s vehicle was also seized for further investigation. Investigations to determine if the suspect is linked to other drug-related crimes,” Mbele concludes.

To add to this developing case, police also found a heavily pregnant 15-year-old girl inside the man’s house.

Who is she and how does she fit into the picture? Or is this man a supplier of many things to various people? It appears there is more to the case than meets the eye.

As it unfolds we will be sure to keep you updated.
