Newcastle East to experience low water pressure, due to declining water levels

Residents from Newcastle East will be experiencing low water pressure during peak times, according to the Newcastle Municipality’s Communication Unit.

This follows uThukela Water supplying less water (25 megalitres). This is due to less raw water being extracted from the Buffalo River.

On July 30, the Newcastillian reported that Department of Water and Sanitation in KwaZulu-Natal noted water levels were on the decline. The Newcastle area was one of the areas where dam levels were declining.

The Municipal technical team will now be meeting this week to explore possible solutions to address the matter. As the team searches for solutions, residents from Newcastle East (Osizweni and Madadeni) will now bear the brunt.

The Newcastle Municipality apologizes for any inconvenience caused. Furthermore, the municipality is also urging residents to play their role in conserving water and avoid water wastage.
