South African motorists can expect to fork out more cash this coming July, with a possible increase in the fuel prices.
This possible fuel increase follows the international oil prices increasing, as the demand of oil returns after the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc around the globe.
According to the Automobile Association, mid-month data from the Central Energy Fund shows that motorists can expect a petrol price increase of approximately R1.59 a litre. Furthermore, the price of diesel will most likely increase by R1.48 and illuminating paraffin by R1.94.
The AA explains that as oil continues to make its way back towards its previous levels in the first of June, it has set the scene for a substantial increase in fuel prices.
Furthermore, the AA has claimed the basic fuel price used in South Africa has increased by 8% since June 1. This is alongside higher peaks, as the international oil prices regain some of the massive declines of the past four months.
On a positive note, the AA claims it will take a number of months for the international oil prices to reach their previous levels. This means that motorists will have a breather until the international oil prices return to normal.
